The AHA HEARTSAVER FIRST AID + CPR/AED course is appropriate for those with a general interest in lifesaving skills, compliance with workplace AED programs regulations, those who need this training for employment, or for those pursuing a First Aid Merit Badge.  Training scenarios are based on general workplace emergency situations.

Topics covered in the AHA Heartsaver First Aid + CPR/AED course:

  1. Readiness principles, use of gloves, and hand washing

  2. First Aid Kits

  3. Finding the problem and calling 9-1-1

  4. Medical emergencies - breathing problems, choking, allergic reactions, chest pain, heart attacks, fainting, diabetes, strokes, seizures, and shock

  5. Injury emergencies - bleeding, bandaging, head and spine injuries, wounds, fractures, sprains, splinting, and burns

  6. Adult, child, and infant CPR and AED use


A typical course runs approximately 5-6 hours (for both First Aid + CPR/AED).  Students are issued a text book, however NO written exam is required.
